Theatrical Magic, in the simplest terms, is magic that is character and story driven.

My name is John B. Pyka, and after nearly 20 years performing, creating, coaching and directing magic I put my thoughts and experience down on paper in Theatrical Magic, The Book.

My goal with the book was to give magicians the tools to transform their magic from a string of special effects into a true theatrical experience. I saw the erosion in the popularity of "traditional" commercial magic - let's face it, most people do not have an immediate warm reception to magicians! The problem has never been the tricks, it's been the presentation. So, in 2007 I decided to promote a book that suggested something radical and revolutionary - a return to the roots of magic as a theatrical form!  

Magic had it's earliest application as theater, and this book not only demonstrates the power in this concept, but teaches the reader how to make their magic theatrical.

In 2008, I followed up with an e-book called How To Produce Your Own Theater Show. While Theatrical Magic teaches the reader what to do to make magic theater, "How To Produce" teaches the read how to produce that theatrical product in theaters and dinner theaters!
